gDiapers Review and Giveaway! - closed

It seems to be cloth diaper week at Le Petit Owlet! I recently became very interested in how gDiapers worked, so I was thrilled when I was given the opportunity to do a review. I received 2 pairs of Little gPants in size medium (13-28lbs) and a package of 6 gCloth inserts. Elijah is just about 7 months old and 22lbs.

gDiapers are commonly known as a "hybrid diaper" - a cloth diaper with a disposable liner. They recently introduced the cloth insert along with their biodegradable, flushable liners. 

Fit: The little gPants have such a great fit! They are very trim, so it's easy to fit pants over them, and my favorite thing ever is the hook and loop closure in the back. Elijah has been extremely hard to change as of late because he won't sit still. He's constantly rolling over and then crawling around on the changing pad. These diapers were awesome because I could get it under his bum right before he turned over and then I was able to fasten it easily since the hook and loop is on the back! This also makes these great for babies who are learning (or already know) how to take their diapers off. 

Performance: I must say, we did not try these diapers at night, if I was going to use them at night I would probably double up the inserts. One insert is probably not enough for overnight, unless you do frequent night diaper changes (we don't do any until the morning, Elijah sleeps through the night and hasn't pooped at night in a long time). With that being said, these were great during the day. I change Elijah's diaper every 2 hours or so, sometimes 3, and I didn't experience any leaking. The very first time I put a gDiaper on Elijah he decided to really put it to the test and went #2. A lot of #2. Everything stayed where it was supposed to and nothing stained in the wash. I really like the gCloth inserts, they are made out of microfleece and hemp/cotton. The microfleece wicks the moisture away and the hemp/cotton is very absorbent (so you should make sure the microfleece is facing baby). They have done really well with keep Eli pretty dry, so I am very happy with that!

Ease of use: gDiapers are very easy to use but they do require a few steps. The plastic liner snaps into the little gPants. You unsnap the liner and wash that with the gPants and then you snap it back in, lay the insert in, then put on baby. It would be easier if you stuff the liners in prior to use so you can just put a new pair on baby after you use them. So, they aren't the fastest or the easiest to use, but they are by no means difficult.

Value: Little gPants run between $16.99 and $18.99 per pair. Each pair comes with one plastic snap in liner. You can purchase two extra snap in liners for $4.99 (which I would recommend so you can stuff them and have them ready). A package of 6 cloth inserts is $29.99. If you wanted to get a starter cloth diapering set I would recommend about 18 liners and at least 4 pairs of gPants and 4 extra plastic liners. That would cost you approximately $168. That's a pretty good deal for cloth diapers. It's not the most economical way you can go, but it sure beats buying disposable diapers all the time (and you are reducing your waste)! If you wanted to go the disposable inserts route then that would cost you $14.49 for 32 liners. This option is a little pricier/the same (depending on what brand) than disposable diapers, so if you are looking to save money I wouldn't go for the disposable inserts.
