To Elijah on Your First Birthday

At 10:52pm tonight it will be exactly one year to the hour that you were born. Such a magical moment. That hour marks the minute that my life changed forever, in ways that I could have never imagined.

Before you were born I thought I knew what love and selflessness was. I thought I knew what it felt like to feel fulfilled or content, but I was wrong. It's only because of you that I now truly know these things. I have loved you like I never thought possible, I didn't even know that this part of my heart even existed.

You've brought joy, magic, and meaning into my life. It's because of you that I have been able to deal with so much. You have made me strong. You are my rock.

This past year has been amazing. I've watched you grow so much. You are much different today than the tiny newborn that I brought home from the birth center. You went from sleeping all day and barely moving, just looking around, to a full of energy walking toddler. In the past few weeks you started saying mama. It's amazing. Every day you learn something new, every day you make my heart melt.

I'm excited to have you for this wonderful journey. The rest of our lives are going to be amazing. I'm glad we have each other. I will always be there for you, no matter what. You already know this, though.

I love you, Elijah. Happy first year of life. I can't wait to see what the next one brings.

Happy birthday to me!

It's been pretty low key. Birthdays are just another day as you get older. I got some breakfast tacos and an iced coffee for breakfast and a burrito and cucumber salad from one of my favorite places, Mr. Natural. Other than that I have been relaxing and watching Lost all day. I got an edible arrangements fruit basket from my aunts and uncles, some money, all the fabric and sewing supplies I bought a couple months ago were my birthday present from Jason, and I am getting a Wii soon. So all in all it's been a pretty good birthday.

I recently got some products from this great company, Wildroot Botanicals. They are based out of Bellingham, WA. They use only organic, fair trade, and wildcrafted ingredients. I love everything I got from them but two products that I really love a lot so far is the Geranium Skin Creme and the Arnica Muscle Rub.

You might have previously read that I have a bad left shoulder from my last surgery (to remove lymph nodes in my neck from cancer) so I was super excited to get the Arnica Muscle Rub. I only got it a couple days ago but I have been getting a ton of use out of it and it's great, it really seems to be helping the soreness. The Geranium Skin Creme has also come in handy because my skin has been really dry. I'm excited to try some more of their stuff soon!
