Pure-Rest™ Organic Wool Baby Blanket from Naturally Good Review & Giveaway + - closed

If you read my blog, you know I love wool. If this is the first time you are visiting Le Petit Owlet, well, I love wool! You can check out a whole post dedicated to wool here.

Since I love wool, I was ecstatic to be sent the Pure-Rest™ Organic Wool Baby Blanket from Naturally Good. This blanket is made from o-wool, which is 100% certified organic merino soft wool grown and produced without the use of pesticides, herbicides, or chemicals.
We receive the blanket in natural to try out. This baby blanket is a generous size of 34" x 52" - larger than your average baby blanket, which is nice because not only will your child be able to use it for years, but you can find lots of other uses for it when they get to big to use it as a blanket anymore!

This is the softest wool blanket you will ever feel in your life. Ever. This blanket has me coveting a queen or king sized one of these for myself. Luckily since it's so big I have been able to share it with Elijah while we're in bed. It's been really cold the past few days too, so it's been really nice. This blanket has kept us incredibly warm, but not too warm. The perfect temperature. One misconception that people have about wool is that it's only for the cold. Wool has built in temperature control, it will keep you warm in the winter, but it will also keep you cool in the summer. Of course I wouldn't go wearing a wool sweater around in the middle of July, but you can surely use a wool blanket year round.

So you think you're allergic to wool? Here's an excerpt taken from the Naturally Good website:

Did you know that most people are NOT allergic to wool? They are actually having a painful response to the course prickly fibers. Some people are more sensitive to this than others. Why are wool fibers so course? It's because of the carbonizing required to remove excess vegetable matter from the wool. It makes the wool fibers weak and then they split, becoming prickly. Also the shorter the fibers are, the better the chance of prickle because there are more fiber ends per unit of fabric. The wool used in our products does NOT go through the carbonizing process. Only wool that is free from prickly vegetable matter is used so that no carbonizing is required. The fibers used in our products are never short! This results in a much softer wool that does not cause prickle.

Naturally Good has a wonderful assortment of organic baby and adult bedding, mattresses, and clothing. They even carry some natural, non-toxic household items! Along with organic products they have a section with some great articles, everything from Why Organic? and Is Your Mattress Making You Sick? to Are the Parabens in our Personal Care Products Really Harmful?

Buy It!

Its seemingly unanimous. Everyone including me loves the mattresses. It hurts my head to think that our bedding and our shower curtains are the most toxic items in our home. Our mattresses at that.

Am I allowed to say that there isn'y only one product that is my favorite?

I learned that prior to 1950, harmful chemicals were not added to mattresses. It was postwar technology that prompted the common use of phosphorus as a plasticizer, arsenic as a preservative and antimony as a fire retardant.

This was eye-opening to me as I never thought about chemicals being the cause of SIDS!
