I have been a blog slacker lately! I have no excuse, I've just been lazy about it. It's been a while so I have a whole list of updates that I can write about.
Let's start with cancer. I am holding off on the interferon. For now anyway. I was supposed to start it on November 9th, but I read the package insert online and I started to get scared. It has some really awful side effects. The ones that I am mainly worried about fall into the mental side effect category. I am already dealing with postpartum depression, so that puts me at even higher risk of having the depression side effects affect me. Also: hallucinations, suicidal ideation, etc, etc. You get the point. I am going back to see my oncologist in January to discuss where we want to go next. I have done a lot of research and found out that some studies have shown the 4 week high dosage treatments to be as effective as continuing them for the 11 months after. In other words, I can do the 4 week high dosage treatments and it will most likely do the job it's supposed to. This is a really good thing because I can't imagine feeling like shit for an entire year.
I have kind of been getting myself worked up a little lately thinking about things like "what if it comes back and travels to my major organs and then I die". I know, terrible thoughts that I should not be thinking, but it's really hard not to. Did you know that melanoma is the only cancer that can spread to every single major organ? Ugh. Excuse my French (I think this is the correct place to use this word) but fuck cancer.
Ok, now that topic is done with, let's talk about Elijah! He's in his 4th month now, weighs 18.5lbs, and is such a super happy baby. He loves "talking" and laughing all the time, so much fun. He's starting to try to roll over now from his back to his stomach. He gets about halfway and then can't finish getting there, but I have been helping him so he can get the feeling of it down and hopefully learn what body parts he needs to use. He's recently started grabbing and holding onto his feet, mostly when I am changing his diaper, but when he's laying on the bed and we're playing too. It's so funny! Because he can grab his feet that also means he can pull his socks off, so socks tend to go MIA. He has a cold now, really snotty but otherwise in good spirits. He did pass his cold on to me though. He loves chewing on his hands, and he loves grabbing my mouth and teeth with his slobbery hands, so of course I got his sick germs, and my version of the cold is probably 20 times worse than his. He's wonderful. I love him so much.
Etsy! I have been making so many longies and diaper soakers. I love it! I love making stuff again, it makes me feel human, and the more I sew the better I get at it. I am getting a serger for Christmas, so that will be fun to learn how to use. I will be able to make stuff a lot faster and with professional edges and hems. I can't wait! I think I want to eventually try to make some cloth diapers. We'll see. I still want to make some baby and children's clothing too. I am thinking something in a nice jersey blend. Hemp jersey, maybe bamboo jersey. I don't know, but I want to make really simple pieces Pants, shirts, skirts, dresses. Some baby vests! How cute. This will all come in due time, it might take a while. I am going to continue making longies and soakers for now though.
I had my first of 4 free maid visits today. I have to admit, it was really awesome. I have been walking around without socks or shoes on all day and my feet are hardly dirty. They swept and mopped the entire house, cleaned the whole bathroom and kitchen, changed my sheets! They even cleaned the ceiling fan. If I could have them come in once a month after my free visits are up that would be a huge help. Seriously, the floors. Amazing. I would hire them just to do the floors if I had the money.
Ok, I need to go finish catching up on Nip/Tuck. Visit my Etsy shop and buy some longies! They don't need to be used as diaper covers, they are just super cute! Sure to be warm (and adorable) all winter. I want to give my blog readers free shipping for the holidays, so send me a message with the code "BLOGFREESHIP". Good until December 20th!
