NoseFrida Review & Giveaway - closed

If your baby is anything like mine (and I bet he or she is) then they hate the bulb syringe. I hate it too. Nothing has made me feel more horrible then having to repeatedly stick one of those things in Eli's nose and try to get the snot out while he is squirming, crying, and hating life. They are just so invasive. I knew there had to be a better solution out there and I was thrilled when I came across the NoseFrida.

NoseFrida (whose tagline is The Snotsucker) is a Swedish product that has been on the European market for over 10 years. The NoseFrida has been imported to the US for over a year by a mother who discovered the device when her 6 week old baby caught a terrible cold while they were in Sweden.

NoseFrida is made out of non-allergenic and latex free polypropylene and is also BPA & Phthalate free. All pieces come apart for easy and quick cleaning unlike a bulb syringe that can harbor lots of bacteria and is really hard to clean (almost impossible). Each NoseFrida comes in a storage case with 4 filters, you can purchase a bag 20 extra filters for $2.50. You should change the filter each time you clean the NoseFrida.

So, how do you use it? Before I tell you I want to let you know that though it might sound gross, it's really not. Changing a diaper full of poop is grosser than sucking snot out of your child's nose, I promise. 

You put the red piece in your mouth, and the blue tube against the baby's nostril (not inside!), the tip of the tube will form a seal with your baby's nostril and you apply suction. You will be able to hear and see the mucous coming out of your baby's nose.

Elijah has a little congestion going on so I was able to test it on him today and guess what? No tears! The only thing that he tried to do was put it in his mouth (because he tries to put everything in his mouth). I know I will be extremely happy that we have the NoseFrida next time Eli has a bad cold and I need to suck snot in the middle of the night, it was always terrible with the bulb syringe, he would end up waking up screaming and then it took forever to get him back to sleep. I even held the NoseFrida up to my nostril to see how it felt and it is extremely gentle yet effective.

I think every mother of a newborn or toddler should own this. It's so much easier to use and it doesn't make you feel terrible when you have to use it on your child. This would make a perfect baby shower gift for those expecting mamas too, I'm sure they would thank you after their baby's first cold!
